I'm Tony Kelly, and I’ve been playing guitar and piano for as long as I can remember.
I’ve spent a lifetime in rehearsals and recording sessions, and I kept seeing the same frustrating problem: I watched incredibly talented musicians struggle to communicate their ideas because they didn't have a map for the music.
They had the soul, but they didn't have the shorthand!
Whether it was a buddy at a jam or a pro songwriter in the studio, they’d try to explain a song in ways that were messy, complicated, and confusing.
I created this course specifically to bridge that gap! Most people think of music theory as an endless, intimidating ocean of terms and jargon, whereas in reality, it’s more like your average-sized pond. There are really only a few essential "keys" (lol...sorry for that one) that you actually need to know, and once you understand those core pieces, every other part of the fretboard falls into place.
That’s why I built Tonal Confidence: I wanted to fix the "communication breakdown" once and for all with a direct, practical system for understanding the structure of the music as you play it.

What instrument is this course designed for?
I demonstrate these concepts on the piano first and then apply them to the guitar, but they are the universal language of professional music. So it doesn't matter whether you’re a guitarist, keyboardist, bass player, drummer or singer, this system will allow you to communicate with any band, anywhere.
What experience level is this program designed for?
This course is specifically designed for “stuck” intermediate players, to help get you “unstuck,” but we will be starting at the very beginning, because like anything worth knowing, music is all about the basics. So if you can play your basic chords and you know a few songs but still feel lost without a tab in front of you, then this course is for you. But even if you are just starting out, you can also learn the basics right here! Because we will be looking at the piano and the guitar side-by-side, the very nature of how the keyboard is laid out (versus a fretboard neck, the keyboard just “looks” like how it should “look”) will help you gain a lot of insight that you probably missed.
So does that mean I should invest in Tonal Confidence before investing in private lessons?
You could, actually. Tonal Confidence was designed FOR my private students - to save them tons of money.
